Celebrating Original Healers

There are few people who recognize and understand who we actually are at our core. Mothers, grandmothers, and tias are gifted with knowing our needs and worked tirelessly to provide that needed medicine. How could they know without having attended a conference or being trained on evidence-based practices?! They sacrificed and went without so we could get what was needed and often we received more than we deserved.

Please take time to acknowledge and celebrate our life-giving mothers and women who provided guidance, blessings, and prayers. Prayers that we would recognize our sacred selves and live honorable lives. Let them know that we now appreciate the MILLIONS of dichos that we often resented but now use with our own children. Our mothers understood that ancestral wisdom has a place in our daily lives today and have provided us with the medicine that will carry us forward.

Thank you for believing in us when we questioned our own sacredness. My hope is that our mothers recognize that the way we live our lives is the evidence that the blessings and prayers they offered had the desired effect on their children and grandchildren.
