National Comadres Newsletter #8 (January 2021)
Greetings!
Happy New Year 2021!
We are excited to begin this new year with much hope, faith, and expectation of new things to come! Yes, it is true that there are many concerning things currently happening in our Nation. But, at the same time, it is also true that there continue to be many stories of wonderful people doing loving, compassionate, and generous things for others: like the 13-year-old boy who used his savings to buy food for a family in need; or, Christmas gifts that were left on house porches for the children in the home; and PG&E bills paid for families whose jobs had been lost. The spirit of humanity is still alive and well, even though those stories are not readily shared on the news. What’s important to remember is that God does work in the middle of chaos. Using each one of us as vessels of grace and miracles of hope, inspiration, and light especially during some of our darkest moments.
For us at the National Comadres Network, we are committed to walk and remind ourselves of the reality of who we are. We, as women, are born as natural Creators of life. We also symbolize the element of water and we must continue to flow and create even in the most challenging of circumstances. Whenever we stop creating, the essence of our spirit dies and we become numb and robotic and cease to continue flowing along with the natural rhythms of nature. We are reflections of our Creator/Ometeotl and we encourage you to take every opportunity to spread humanity and healing to all those who cross your path by humbly offering a safe space, a listening ear, and prayers of support. As you lift your head to welcome 2021, share your medicine and gifts with yourself and others, lighting up your surroundings as only you can do. Imagine if we all unite and do this, the vibration of love and compassion will bring healing and hope to those in desperate need.
